Euphoria: the Balloon Museum’s expansive inflatable art Exhibition in Rome

The event that became a global phenomenon landed at La Nuvola by Fuksas

Euphoяia – Art is in the Air

From December 20, 2024, to March 30, 2025, La Nuvola (EUR) in Rome hosted Euphoria – Art is in the Air, a grand celebration of inflatable art presented by the Balloon Museum. This large-scale event blended interactive experiences, artistic innovation, and playful creations, offering a fresh way to explore contemporary art. After its debut in Rome, the show is scheduled to travel to the Grand Palais in Paris (June 5 – August 28, 2025), following in the footsteps of the Balloon Museum’s internationally acclaimed exhibitions that had already drawn over six million visitors worldwide.
Curated by Valentino Catricalà in collaboration with Antonella Di Lullo, and held under the patronage of both the Municipality of Rome and the MiC – Ministry of Culture, Euphoria – Art is in the Air brought together more than 20 monumental installations and inflatable artworks. These pieces challenged traditional art forms by embracing lightness, movement, and active public participation.

Staged across 7,000 square meters of exhibition space, the installations transformed La Nuvola into a hub of unexpected shapes, colors, and sounds, inviting every visitor to become part of the creative process.
Some of the most influential contemporary artists contributed to Euphoria – Art is in the Air, including Carsten Höller, Philippe Parreno, Martin Creed, Marta Minujín, Hyperstudio, Rafael Lozano-Hemmer, Ryan Gander, A.A. Murakami, Karina Smigla-Bobinski, Cyril Lancelin, Camille Walala, Philip Colbert, Quiet Ensemble, SpY, Nils Völker, Sun Yitian, MOTOREFISICO, and Alex Schweder. Each artist explored the medium of inflatables with a distinct vision, offering everything from kinetic sculptures and rolling spheres to colorful balloon environments and towering inflatable architectures.
